In preparation for the start of the virtual school year, Bank of the Bahamas Limited recently partnered with the Ministry of Education to help purchase tablet and laptop devices for preschool and primary school children who do not have the equipment necessary for a virtual school environment. While presenting a $3,000 cheque to the Ministry of Education, Robert Cox, Corporate Manager of Business Development for Bank of The Bahamas explained that BOB has long supported education throughout the islands, and is an annual sponsor for the Junior Achievement Programme.  He said the bank is sympathetic to the plight of students during the COVID-19 pandemic where technology is essential for learning.

Marcellus Taylor, Director of Education thanked BOB for the donation and said the Department of Education is committed to providing quality education to all students regardless of the circumstances. “Now that we are moving in the virtual domain this will support those efforts to ensure that every single child is on board and not left behind,” Mr. Taylor said.

Lorraine Armbrister, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education added that the donation is a representation of all that Bank of The Bahamas has done and continues to do in the community. “So we are very pleased to receive this donation. Thank you very much,” she said.
