Bank of The Bahamas Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Neil T. Strachan as Managing Director of the Bank, effective June 7, 2023. Mr. Strachan brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role and served as the Acting Deputy Managing Director prior to this appointment.

In his previous position as Chief Risk Officer at Bank of The Bahamas, Mr. Strachan demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic vision. He was responsible for overseeing the risk management operations of the Bank, including departments such as Credit Risk Management, Credit Adjudication, Operational Risk Unit, Credit Risk Monitoring Unit, Collections & Recovery Department, Information Risk Unit, and the Collateral Security Department.

Throughout his tenure, Mr. Strachan successfully implemented the bank's Enterprise Risk Management Framework, enhancing risk identification, assessment, monitoring, control, and mitigation processes; developed and implemented policies, procedures, and standards to ensure effective risk management. He played a vital role in cultivating a sound and profitable credit portfolio while implementing effective credit risk management policies and procedures.

Throughout his career, Mr. Strachan has held various executive positions in the banking sector, including Vice President of Retail Banking, Business Development & Marketing and Assistant Vice President of Mortgage and Commercial Lending, Credit Risk Management at another local financial institution. His wide-ranging experience has equipped him with a deep understanding of retail and commercial banking.

Mr. Strachan holds a Master of Business Administration and Finance Degree from the University of Miami and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and Sociology from the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma. He is known for his continuous pursuit of knowledge and has completed numerous certifications and training programs.

As the newly appointed Managing Director, Mr. Strachan will continue to build on the strong foundation laid by Bank of The Bahamas. His results-oriented approach, dedication to staff development, and commitment to exceptional customer service will contribute to the Bank's continued success and growth.
