Bank of The Bahamas Limited recently opened its newest branch in Rock Sound, Eleuthera and extended an invitation to the community to partner with it in building a brighter future for residents of South Eleuthera.
At the official opening ceremony Wayde Christie, BOB’s Managing Director, said the bank had come to Eleuthera as a long-term partner to provide a new and different kind of banking experience for the community.
"We call ourselves the Bank of Solutions for a reason. We're not here to make a quick profit and then just leave. Instead we believe our presence should help to ensure that Bahamians are financially better off. We believe success should be measured by the security created for families,” Mr. Christie said.
“Today we see excessive debt and people with nothing to show for it but we believe in soundness and security. You have our assurance and commitment that our BOB team will work tirelessly to find solutions to whatever your needs may be," He said.
BOB’s Deputy Managing Director Hubert Edwards underscored that the bank's vision is to be the best and most respected financial enterprise in The Bahamas.
Underlining the bank’s mission statement he promised the customers and residents in attendance that BOB will achieve this by “working together to provide exceptional customer experience and superior financial solutions,".
BOB South Eleuthera Branch is the bank's thirteenth branch and it’s first on the island of Eleuthera, giving the bank a presence on eight islands, more than any other local bank. The branch is staffed by five employees and occupies premises that were recently vacated by another bank as part of a restructuring process.
In addition to personal banking services the bank provides innovative technology for its customers' convenience including BOB Express ATMs, the only bank ATMS in the country to provide immediate cash value for cash deposits, BOB Express Online Banking and BOB Mobile Express, a mobile credit card processing solution for smart phones and tablets.
The Hon. Damien Gomez, Member of Parliament for South commended BOB for opening a branch in Rock Sound, Eleuthera just six months after another bank had exited the district.
"I have a view that Bank of The Bahamas Limited should be in every Family Island. I congratulate the bank for opening and congratulate the people of Eleuthera for their resilience and patience," Mr. Gomez said.
Margarett Symonette, Administrator for the District of South Eleuthera said the community welcomes Bank of The Bahamas with open arms because it provides a vital service along with convenience and proximity.
"We are so happy that you were encouraged to come to South Eleuthera because had you not, the situation with the pensioners and other clients would have resulted in a huge inconvenience, having to drive all the way to Governor's Harbour to do business and bearing in mind some persons do not have vehicles, their small pensions would be depleted before they receive it, on transportation costs alone; so at least the bank is closer to the people. I hope our relationship will grow by leaps and bounds and in the end everyone will benefit and be happy that you came," Mrs. Symonette said.
Bank of The Bahamas Limited is a modern, full- service bank providing personal banking, premier banking, trust and merchant services. The bank employs a staff of 350 and its thirteen branches extend across eight islands from Grand Bahama in the north to Inagua in the southern Bahamas.
